I filed an extension not confirmed

If you used TurboTaxEasy Extension, you should receive a confirmation from TurboTax within 48 hours of submission.

If you mailed in your extension, then you will need to contact the Internal Revenue Service at 1.800.829.1040 to determine if your extension was received and approved.  Please expect a 2-3 hour wait. Generally, extensions are accepted when filed on time.

If your State's policy is to file a separate extension then the IRS, then you will need to contact their customer service number.

Please remember that an extension to file is not an extension to pay.  It is suggested that you make payments towards any expected taxes that may be owing when the return is filed.  You can do so (if payment wasn't made with the extension), by utilizing the IRS Direct Pay feature.  You will not be charged a fee, nor will your bank account information be retained in the Direct Pay system.
