I entered in the information for my dependent and it said I qualify for a $4050 tax break but it is not showing up on my return amount.

The tax break is not a credit. It is subtracted from your income along with your standard deduction and your own $4050 personal exemption to determine how much of your income is taxable. The less income that is taxable, the less tax you pay.
