TT home and business
efiled and paid tax by credit card.
return was rejected and corrected resulting in higher tax owed.
What is the difference and How do I pay that difference?
TT has left me hanging.
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
So your original e-filing was rejected because your daughter had already claimed herself as a dependent.
Since you're not planning to challenge her filing, you'll correct your return to remove her as a dependent, and you'll lose that $500 credit.
You've already paid your TurboTax fees using the credit card you entered when you first filed. There is no additional charge to re-submit a rejected return.
So other than having already paid your TurboTax fees, you've paid nothing. It's like you're starting from scratch in terms of paying your federal tax liability. You should know that there is a "convenience fee" charged for paying your taxes using a credit card. You'll save that fee if you select "direct debit" to pay your federal taxes. You'll just have to enter your banking information when you get to that portion of your TurboTax interview. See all the options to pay your federal tax liability below.
