Correct. The IRS masks SSN and EINs. Get that information from your employer.

Why don't you have your W-2? Employers were requred by law to get it to you no later then Jan 31, 2019.

the IRS copies do not have state info. if that's needed you'll have to get the W-2's from the Social security administration. there is a fee

If you only have to file the federal return you can enter a fake # in the program to get past that field
and then mail in the return because you will need to attach copies of the IRS transcript
