Okay, if your father's social security checks have his social security number on them, you do not include that money on your tax return.  In addition, child support is not tax deductible on your father's tax return and is not included on your tax return, because child support is not taxable and you do not put any of it on your tax return. You mentioned that you made $16,000 in 2016, so if you are single, claim yourself as an exemption on your 2016 income tax return and do not itemize your deductions, you would have about $5,650 in taxable income. I arrived at this number by taking your $16,000 in wages and subtracted $4,050 for your exemption and subtracted another $6,300 for your standard deduction, which left $5,650. The tax rate for taxable income between $0-$18,550 is 10%.  Therefore, the tax you can expect to pay on $5,650 in taxable income is around $565.

Does your father's SSDI checks have his SS# or your SS# on them?

I wanna say they have his ss# on them I only get social security in place of his child support, and have never had to pay taxes on them before

I don't know what taxes were withheld from your pay and do not know if you qualify for the Earned Income Credit.  Just put all of your info into Turbotax carefully and the program will do everything else for you.  Good luck!
