I've been using TurboTax for Windows since 2020. I recall being able to go to the prior year's icon and run it to see related information.
I see that TurboTax has some info from 2020 since in the 2024 application it has an income/taxes bar graphs. How is it finding this information, is it finding and loading the prior year's TurboTax's .tax#### files?
When I opened the 2023 application, it first asked me to update, and I chose to skip since it gave me that option (why are there updates almost a year after tax season ended?), but it didn't work somehow, and I ended up accepting the update. Afterwards it gave me a welcome screen and didn't show my prior year tax as I expected. When I went to search for files, it only had .tax2022 as a valid extension, but this is the 2023 application?!
Then I tried opening 2022, and it prompted me for a license key?! Same for 2021 and 2020.
What's going on? I should be able to just open my prior year TurboTax and find it at the state I last left it, right? Or am I missing something?
