2021? You can only use the CD/download for a 2021 return. And there is no possibility at all of using "refund processing" for $40 with that, because you cannot e-file a 2021 return. It can only be filed by mail. Did you choose some other add-on like audit defense? Back button it and de-select it.
The software is going to take you through the file section but you cannot choose to e-file. You have to choose to file by mail. E-filing for 2021 returns has been closed since October of 2022.
