I believe you are asking about the Standard Deduction, which has been substantially increased beginning with tax year 2018.

For 2018, the increased Standard Deduction amounts for all filers are:

• Single or Married filing separately—$12,000.

• Married filing jointly or Qualifying widow(er)—$24,000.

• Head of household—$18,000.

TurboTax des not provide a shortcut that would allow you to simply select the Standard Deduction. Because of our promise to help you receive the maximum possible refund, TurboTax requires you to complete the Deductions and Credits portion of the EasyStep interview. Most of the questions require only Yes or No answers and can be completed quickly. But along the way, you may find that you qualify for valuable tax credits. Also, many states still allow deductions for certain expense items that have been suspended for federal income tax purposes, so it is important that we collect this information from you.
