I am trying to file my taxes for free but as I am ready to file and submit it's asking for money, what did I do wrong?

You appear to be using Live Basic, for which you would be charged extra unless you remove Live.   That product is essentially the same as Free Edition in capability but includes the Live feature.. The Live part allows you to have help at-will from a tax expert and a review of your return prior to filing.

Live Basic is $80 for a Federal return and $45 for a state return.

Here's how to remove the Live part and return back to regular Free Edition.

Or is it asking you to upgrade even further, such as to Deluxe because of some item in your return that Free Edition/Live Basic cannot handle?
