I am single with one child, I file as head of household. I claim 2 withholdings on my w4. Will I owe taxes in 2019 if I don’t change my withholdings? I know the tax laws are different now so

I wasn’t sure what I should claim.

It depends.  Did you owe anything this year?  Has anything changed in your situation? The tax laws for 2019 are the same as they are for the taxes we just filed.

You can use the TurboTax Calculator built into the program that already has all of your information to decide what is best to claim on your W4.

To access this calculator, click on

  • Federal
  • Other Tax Situations
  • Go to Other Tax Forms
  • Start next to Form W-4 and estimated taxes

You can also use the TurboTax W-4 Calculator at the following link. https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/calculators/w4/

Hi Vanessa, I was working a higher paying job for most of last year and then started a lower paying job in November of 2018. I received a sizable refund this year, but I was also claiming 0 on my W4 I started claim 2 in November when I started my new job.

You can make adjustments to your income in the W4 calculator to see what you want to do.  Without exact details, I can't give you an actual answer.  If you want a refund then you are better to claim 0, if you want more money in your pay you can claim 2.  Claiming 0 makes is less likely that if you do end up making more you would have to pay
