I am not self employed. I am employed by a company. Turbo Tax keeps asking me self employment questions. How do I change this?

Did you enter a 1099-NEC? If so, and this was from income for performing services you would be considered self-employed.

Were you self-employed last year?  If so, then in the beginning of the return, you can say no, this does not apply anymore.  You can also delete the Schedule C to get rid of the self-employment questions.  However, if you have entered a 1099-NEC, the Schedule C will repopulate as the income from the 1099-NEC is reported on Schedule C if you do not say it is hobby income or somehow not self-employment.

  1. From the left rail menu in TurboTax Online, select Tax Tools (You may have to scroll down on the left rail menu.)
  2. On the drop-down select Tools
  3. On the Pop-Up menu titled “Tools Center,” select Delete a Form
  4. This will show all of the forms in your return
  5. Scroll down to the form you want to delete
  6. Select the Form
  7. Click on Delete.

Always use extreme caution when deleting information from your tax return.  There could be unintended consequences.
