I am a teacher. Can I deduct the fee I had to pay for a required criminal background check?

Unfortunately, you can't claim a deduction for a background check for these purposes.  It's a job-related expense, and job-related expenses are no longer deductible under the new law.  Please see the TurboTax FAQ "Can employees deduct any job-related expenses?" below for more information.
