I am a physician on J1- Alien physician visa program, I am from India,  I would like to know whether I am eligible to get the standard deduction under the Indian treaty Article 21(2)

    as I see it, Article 22 would apply to you,m, not article 21

    It depends - As a J-1 visa nonresident student or business apprentice from India you would be able to claim the standard deduction under Article 21(2) of the United States - India tax treaty.

    Yeah I understand that but my j1 Visa says alien physician/ research scholar , am I eligible to get the standard deduction ?
