You are eligible to file Married Filing Joint since your spouse passed away in February, 2017.
Head of Household is generally for single filers with dependents. However, if you do have dependents, you are eligible to file as Qualifying Widower for two years following your spouses death.
Married filing joint and Qualifying Widower is a more favorable tax filing status.
