How to record Direct Pay 2016 additional tax payment? I do NOT estimate.

I used IRS Direct Pay for a one time payment of ADDITIONAL 2016 taxes. This payment was in addition to the taxes withheld by employers and financial institutions. I do not estimate so I assume turbo tax heading with ESTIMATE in them does NOT apply to me.  How do I record this one time tax payment?

How to record Direct Pay 2016 additional tax payment? I do NOT estimate.

You should record this payment under Estimated Taxes.

  • Go to Federal Taxes>Deductions & Credits
  • Scroll down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid and select Estimates
  • On the next screen select Federal estimated taxes for 2016
  • Select yes on the next screen
  • On the next screen select Enter More Payments (leave the boxes blank)
  • On the next screen enter the amount of your payment and the date
message box icon
