You file Form 1116, Foreign Tax Credit (Individual, Estate, or Trust), to claim the foreign tax credit if you are an individual, estate, or trust, and you paid or accrued certain foreign taxes to a foreign country or U.S. possession.

In TurboTax: 

1. Open (continue) your return in TurboTax
2. In the Search box, enter foreign tax credit and select Jump to foreign tax credit
   • Or go to Deductions & Credits, and select Start next to Foreign Tax Credit under Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
3. When you reach the screen Do You Want the Deduction or the Credit? select the option you prefer for your situation

If you choose to take the credit , we'll attach Form 1116, Foreign Tax Credit, if your situation requires it.
