How to file with a pin

What kind of PIN are you referring to?  Are you referring to a 6-digit IP PIN (Identity Protection PIN) issued to victims of ID theft or to filers who opted-in to the program?

If you are referring to an IP PIN, have you actually received your brand new IP PIN to be used for returns filed during the 2026 calendar year?  If you are trying to retrieve an IP PIN online from your IRS account, that account feature is not ready yet but will be available sometime in January.  Or did you recently get a CP01A notice from the IRS with your new 2026 PIN?

Of course, it's way too early to actually file a return, but we can tell you where an IP PIN is entered in the program, if that's what you are asking about.  Are you using Online TurboTax or desktop software?
