How long does it take for a return to be fully processed after it is accepted? Must my return be fully processed before I will be able to receive my stimulus payment?

if you filed in 2018, then 2019 getting processed shouldn't matter

Check this website and update your bank information if necessary.  AGI is line 7 on your 2018 return and line 8B on your 2019 return.  Refund is line 21a of the 2019 tax return. and line 20a for 2018

It does matter because I owed in 2018 so they did not have my direct deposit info. This year I was owed a refund and provided my DD info. No stimulus yet which is why I’m asking here how long it takes to process and will I not get the stimulus until after the return is fully processed.

Also when I use the “get my payment tool” like you linked above, I receive the message “unable to determine” like a lot of other people are receiving. So again that’s what prompted me to try to get info here.

If you efiled your return, most returns in normal times are processed within 21 days. Some take longer. Track the status of your refund using the tracking web site: https://www.irs.gov/refunds

I am unable to enter direct deposit info on the IRS website because every day when I put in my information I receive the “payment status not available” message. I never get farther than that so I am never given the option to provide any info. I know that millions of other people are getting the same message when they put their info in. I’m trying to determine if I will not receive the stimulus until my return is fully processed since I cannot gather any information through the IRS website. Thank you for your input.

@jessd - as long as you filed 2018 or 2019, you should be in queue for the stimulus payment
