If the reason for the amendment was to exclude unemployment benefits paid as a result of the American Rescue Plan then you do not need to amend your federal return.
If you received a rejection email for the Federal amendment do not try to fix/resend it. If the state amendment was also e-filed you should also get a state rejection email. Since you will not be e-filing the federal amendment, you will need to print/mail the state amendment.
Sign back in to your TurboTax account. Use the print/download option to download the current version and then print the state amended forms for mailing. Verify the changes excluding the unemployment income are there.
Thank you! Yes, it is due to the American Rescue Plan. I was intending to amend just my State refund but apparently the Federal was included unintentionally. I know I need to print and mail my State amendment, I’m just concerned that now the Federal is saying rejected and want to be sure there’s nothing I really need to do.
No. It is rejected, so it is back with you. Simply do not resend it. It is not necessary.
