I need help on how to enter (or report) an indirect rollover in Turbo Tax. Here's what happened: In 2020, I closed out a traditional IRA from one institution, but I did not tell them I was going to roll it over, so the check was issued in my name. Before 60 days had passed, I made an indirect rollover to another institution (I have proof - statements from the new institution verifying this). Of course I receive a 1099R from the old institution showing that all of the distribution was taxable (distribution code was 7 & the IRA/SEP Simple was check). They did withhold some federal income tax, not much (3%). When I keyed in that 1099R, of course my tax liability went through the roof! There's got to be a way to report my indirect rollover, but I can't figure it out. Is it because I'm cheap and don't want to upgrade to the fancy version of Turbo Tax? I tried keying it in the Deductions and Credits section, IRA contributions, but that didn't work.

After you enter(ed) the 1099-R, there is a page that asks "What Did You Do With The Money From [Retirement Plan]"? See Screen Shot below.
Be sure you indicate first that you "...moved the money to another retirement account (or returned it to the same retirement account)." and the you "rolled over all of this money to another IRA or other retirement account (or returned it to the same account)."
Thanks, David! I discovered where I went wrong. On the previous screen, I clicked on "Yes, some or all of this withdrawal was an MRD" because I thought some was an MRD. However, when you do that, it won't ask you what you did with the money. I finally found the screen you showed me by clicking "No, none of this withdrawal was an MRD". It's all good now!
