How do I refile a 2020 rejected refund?

You will need to paper file the return. It will take a while for the IRS to process it.  Make sure you sign the return and have a good address for any correspondence. You can insert your bank info for a direct deposit. You must file within 3 years from when the tax return was due so for 2020, it was due April 15, 2021. You can't file for a refund after April 15, 2024 so get it filled asap.

2020 can only be filed by mail.  E-filing is  closed for 2020.   Mail by April 15, 2024 or you will forfeit the refund.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
