How do I get TurboTax to recognize code N on Form 8949?

I need to enter a nominee adjustment on form 8949.  I entered an override with code "N" in column (f) and a negative amount in column (g).  TurboTax then shows that in row 2 but it is not applying the amount to Schedule D.  How should I do this?

Rather than override it, cancel the override and follow these steps.

Return to the original transaction. After entering the initial information, continue through the rest of the screens.

  • At Select any less common adjustments that apply, select Some (or all) of the proceeds for this sale do not belong to me.
    • Enter the adjustment to gain or loss.

This will properly adjust the cost information initially entered as needed. Go to Forms Mode to view your results.
