In doing a family member's tax return, I paid to e-file, but then TurboTax would not allow the e-file. TurboTax was stuck in a loop because this family member had a return where his Massachusetts-Middlesex County retirement system benefits are not taxed by the state, but are taxed by the federal government. At the time he contributed to the fund, Massachusetts taxed his contributions, so they are not taxing the distributions. My call was escalated two levels, but this expert could not solve the problem either, so I had to print it and mail it in. I called back again to get the e-file fee refunded, and this has been escalated as well and I am waiting for a call back. I am growing doubtful that anyone at TurboTax can actually process such a refund, which I think is a little absurd. I hope it doesn't come down to requesting a refund on the TurboTax product itself or disputing the charge through the credit card company. Since TurboTax provide a receipt with a corresponding order number, there should be a way to get a successful refund, no?

I have shared your post where TurboTax Moderators can view it. Even though the tax deadline is still a couple of weeks away, the biggest "push" is over, so many of the Moderators are gone now for off-season.
I'm hopeful that one of the remaining Moderators will reach out to you. Be sure that your email address in your TurboTax account is current. Thank you for your patience.
