Your federal tax liability amount for 2023 can be found on Form 1040, Line 24.
Your tax liability is the total amount of tax owed on your income after deducting any nonrefundable credits, along with any additional taxes and tax penalties. If your withholding and estimated tax payments were less than the total liability, you'll have an amount due. If your withholdings and payments exceeded your tax liability, then the excess amount will be refunded.
