Unless you're able to itemize, forget about FLI.
Just enter -0- for that item from your W-2.
Besides, it's so tiny.

Totally confused -- zero'd out the FLI on the Federal W2 but NJ keeps picking up the original value... any suggestions?

It sounds like you need to re-import the W-2 to New Jersey.
Can you delete the state and start over (sometimes you can't without paying for it again)? That's when it carries the federal stuff to the state return.
Otherwise run through the New Jersey interview again all the way through and see if TurboTax notices the change.
