How do I contest double payment from California Franchise Board for 2016 state taxes?

Sounds like you paid CA online and set it up in the TT system when you filed.  Usually this will sort itself out in the wash however the wash cycle can take several weeks or months. 

You may want to try to call them or walk into an office to get the second payment refunded...

Yes, this is what happenend.  I filed the taxes via turbotax but it didn't post any charge for several days.  So I went directly to FTB thinking that turbotax only posted federal taxes.  I can't wait several months for this.

Next time read the screens and the filing instructions for the state so you don't double pay again.

You will have to contact the state yourself, there is nothing TT can help you with in this situation.

You can try calling the State of Ca, or looks like they have a Chat option too.

You keep saying 2016 though...2015 is the tax year that was due on the 18th of this month....youre not talking about 2016 estimated taxes, right?
