The stimulus check is an advance on a credit you can receive on your 2020 tax return. If something went wrong or you did not get the stimulus check in 2020, you can get it when you file your 2020 return in early 2021
The Recovery Rebate Credit will be found in the Federal Review section, If you are eligible it will end up on line 30 of your 2020 Form 1040.
so where in Turbno tax do we put in the rebate credit if we did not receive a check? I know it is line 30 but need to have turbotax put it in. What section?
In the Search box near the top of the screen, simply type stimulus into the Search box and enter.
Then, if you'll click the link Jump to stimulus, you'll be prompted to enter your amount(s).
The IRS requires you to report all relevant stimulus information when you’re filing your return.
I did that and even though the amounts I received and entered are lowered than what I should have received based on your system's calculations, the next prompt states I received what I qualified for. I'm confused.
Then you have something on your return entered incorrectly. What did you receive and what do you think you should have received? Provide the details here and someone can help you determine what the problem is. Include your AGI amount on Line 11 of Form 1040, your filing status, and the number of dependents listed on Form 1040. And remember the amount of the recovery rebate is the amount you were shorted for payments #1 and #2 and has nothing to do with payment #3. Also, include the ages of all dependents as of Dec 31, 2020. @romano93
