To revisit the 2017 adjusted gross income (AGI) section in TurboTax:
- Open your tax return.
- Select the File tab and continue through to the To Continue, Select from the Options Below screen.
- Type in your corrected AGI in the Enter last year's AGI here box under Option 1.
- Select Continue and proceed through the AGI section.
- Once you've corrected or re-entered your AGI, keep following the screens until you've re-transmitted your return.
In all cases above, always use the amount from the return you filed first (the original), not an amended one.
The best place to get this number is from your originally-filed 2017 federal tax return. You can’t get it from a W-2, 1099, or other income statement.
Choose the 1040 form you filed last year. Only use your originally-filed 2017 federal tax return, even if you amended it later.
Select your form to see where the AGI is located on each form.Form 1040 – Line 37
