To remove your sales taxes paid in TurboTax Online:
- Open TurboTax Online
- Select Tax Home in the left pane
- On the Hi, let's keep working on your taxes! screen, select the dropdown to the right of Deductions & Credits box, then select Start, Continue, Review/Edit, or Pick up where you left off
- On the Your tax breaks page, you should see Sales Tax listed. Select Edit to the right
- If the Let's Compare Your Sales Tax and Income Tax page generates, select Try Sales Tax Deduction Anyway
- On the How do you want to enter your sales tax info? page, select Enter All My Receipts
- On the Enter Sales Tax You Paid page, remove any entry for Total Sales Tax Paid, then select Continue
- On the We've Chosen A Deduction for You page, select the box next to Change your deduction, then select the bullet next to State and local income tax deduction, if that's what you want. Then select Continue
