Can't download and don't want to update my system as I am planning on buying a new laptop in the future.

If you don't have the proper system requirements than I would suggest getting a refund for the desktop version of TurboTax Deluxe and purchasing the online version. You won't have to pay for the online version until you file. I am going to provide you with the link that will take you to the products page https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/online/ from there you will need to sign in with either your username or email address associated with the TurboTax account you have now and you should be good to go.
