How can I file without a 1095 a? It won't let me skip.

I just Googled 1095A and found this. Did you try it to get yours?

How to find your 1095-A online
  1. Log in to your HealthCare.gov account.
  2. Under "Your Existing Applications," select your 2020 application — not your 2021 application.
  3. Select “Tax Forms” from the menu on the left.
  4. Download all 1095-As shown on the screen.

If you purchased health insurance through Healthcare.gov or your state's health insurance marketplace, you should receive your 1095-A by mid-February.  As IRS won't start processing any returns until February 12, 2021, I would suggest you to wait.

The Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, requires most U.S. residents to have health insurance, but it also offers a tax break, the Premium Tax Credit, to help offset the costs of health coverage for those who qualify. If you bought coverage through one of the health insurance marketplaces, you should receive a copy of Form 1095-A, which provides information needed to claim the tax credit.

For more information, click here: Where to report? and What is Form 1095-A

If this form does not apply to you this year, simply remove it from the program.  Here are the steps:

In TurboTax online,

1.  Sign into your account, select Pick up where you left off

2.  Select Tax Tools, click on the drop down arrow

3.  Select Tools

4.  Under Other helpful links, choose Delete a form

5.  Select Delete next to the Form 1095-A and Continue with My Return

How can I file without a 1095 a? It won't let me skip.

I did not have health insurance for any part of the year for 2021. However, when I try to select "No" it just automatically selects yes every time. Why does it do this? Is there a fix for this?

Dont worry they cant do anything except tell you to upgrade to speak to someone else then eventually tell you to file iy by mail. No IT department. Makes no sense why this would be setuo this way, totally idiotic.

If TurboTax is not letting you advance past the screens regarding marketplace insurance and Form 1095-A, it may be because an entry has been begun but not completed. Follow these steps to get rid of any entries if you did not receive marketplace insurance in 2021:

  1. Click Deductions and Credits
  2. Scroll down to Medical and Click Show More
  3. Click Start or Revisit next to the ACA
  4. Answer the question about unemployment.
  5. If you see a 1095-A in there, be sure to delete it.
  6. Select Continue twice.
  7. Click Revisit next to the ACA and this time select No, I didn't receive Form 1095-A

This will remove any forms related to marketplace insurance and the premium tax credit from your return. You are not eligible for these if your health insurance was provided by your employer and you never received marketplace insurance in 2021.

I've been following these steps for a day now and it is still changing it back to yes even though I selected No, I didn't receive Form 1095-A.

You are not required to include a Form 1099-B or C with your return from your commercial insurance, as it is not used in Premium Tax Credit calculations like the Form 1095-A.  Keep it with your tax records but you will not need to enter any information into TurboTax.

To remove any partial forms form in the return, you can use Delete Forms.

  1. In the left menu, select Tax Tools
  2. Select Tools
  3. Select Delete a form
  4. Scroll to the Form 1095-A or 8962  and click Delete on the right
  5. Then scroll to the bottom and select Continue with my return

This should remove any forms and you do not need to enter the section for Form 1095-A in the Medical portion of Deductions and Credits.. However, if there are any remaining flags, you can click Start or Revisit to update that section and select  No, I didn't receive Form 1095-A.

Your tax return may have been rejected because the IRS thinks that you received a 1095-A form if you purchased health insurance from the marketplace last year. The 1095-A is used to complete a Premium Tax Credit Form 8962 and reconcile your Premium Tax Credit so it must be entered so you can file an accurate tax return. If you did purchase health insurance from the marketplace last year but did not receive a form, you can check in your Healthcare.gov account. Follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to your HealthCare.gov account.
  2. Under "Your Existing Applications," select your 2022 application — not your 2023 application.
  3. Select “Tax Forms” from the menu on the left.
  4. Download all 1095-As shown on the screen.

If you did not purchase health insurance from the marketplace last year, follow the steps below to delete the forms:

  1. Within your return, click on Tax Tools in the black menu on the left side of the screen
  2. Click on Tools
  3. Click on Delete a Form
  4. Scroll down and locate Form 1095-A and click Delete
  5. Check to see if Form 8962 is in your tax return and if it is click Delete next to it also.

If these instructions do not resolve your issue, please let us know.

How can I file without a 1095 a? It won't let me skip.

Hello

How can I file without a 1095 a? It won't let me skip.

The IRS is rejecting returns because they believe you or someone on your return had insurance through the marketplace. If you did have insurance through the marketplace in 2020, you may still just be on their list.

First confirm that you do not have an active policy.

  1. Log in to your HealthCare.gov account.
  2. Under "Your Existing Applications," select your 2022 application — not your 2023 application.
  3. Select “Tax Forms” from the menu on the left.
  4. Download all 1095-As shown on the screen.

If you've confirmed that no one on your tax return has a policy, follow these steps.

The first will clear the form.  From time to time it will come back.  Then use the second alternative.

  1. On the menu bar on the left that shows.
    1. My Info
    2. Federal
    3. State
    4. Review
    5. File
  2. Select Tax Tools
  3. On the drop-down select Tools
  4. On the Pop-Up menu select Delete a Form
  5. This will give you all of the forms in your return
  6. Scroll down to the form you want to delete
  7. Select the Form
  8. Click on Delete.

Always use extreme caution when deleting your tax return.

There could be unintended consequences.

If that alternative did not work, This will allow you to advance.

The workaround is to enter $1 for the 1095-A.  This will not affect anything on your return but having the form there may get the IRS to accept your return.

To do this take the following steps:

  • Click Deductions and Credits
  • Scroll down to Medical and Click Show More
  • Click Start or Revisit next to the ACA
  • As you walk through the questions, you will be asked if you received a 1095-A.
    • Even if you did NOT, click YES anyway.
  • Enter 0's for the Marketplace identifier and Policy number.
  • Enter $1 for January monthly premium amount and SLCSP
  • Walk through to the end and submit your return.

If this does not completely answer your question, please contact us again and provide some additional details.
