The AGI for your past year return no longer matters. You needed it to e-file and now e-filing for any year except 2018 returns is permanently closed. So you do NOT amend the return. Now you need to print, sign and mail your 2016 return. If you are getting a refund there will not be a penalty for filing late. If you owe, your penalties and interest have been accruing since April 2017.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS and/or your state received the return.
Remember to print and mail your state return if you live in a state with a state income tax. Federal and state returns must be mailed separately to separate addresses. The AGI for your past year return no longer matters.
