I bought the TurboTax Premier with the understanding that all Federal tax filings were free. But not for those getting refunds, for which you take $40.  THAT IS DECEITFUL AND FALSE ADVERTISING!!!

There is not a fee to e-file your tax return or to have direct deposit of your refund.

Did you choose to pay for using TurboTax by having the fee taken out of your federal refund?  That means you will pay an EXTRA FEE of $40 ($45 in CA) to have a third party bank receive your refund from the IRS, take out enough to pay TT, and then send you the rest of the refund.  ( The third party bank keeps the $40 or $45 fee for itself.)

You do not have to do that.   Pay upfront BEFORE you file --- pay using a credit or debit card.

Did you buy the Desktop program and install it with the 16 digit License Code?   Yes federal is free to efile.  You may have added some other items like live help in the upper right for $60.  Or Efiling a state return is $25.   Or you may have needed to buy another state download program for $45.   If you want any of the other fees deducted from your refund there is an Extra $40 Refund Processing Service charge (45 in California).

Go back through the File tab slowly and see what you are getting charged for.

I have been using Turbo Tax for at least 25 years.  For my 2024 filing I chose to have my refund deposited directly into my checking account -- the same procedure I have always used when I was entitled to a refund.  This year I was suprised to see my refund deposited by Tpq Products Sbtpq AFTER THEY TOOK A $65 processing fee from my calculated refund !!!    What a fraud.  No disclosure from Turbo Tax about the size of this processing fee.    I would like to get a refund of this fee from Turbo Tax.   Thank you very much.  David

@DAZ85   Did you efile a state return?  There is a $25 fee to efile state from the Desktop program.  Did you pay it with a credit card?  If you had the fee deducted there is a $40 Refund Processing Service charge.  You should have seen this screen.

@DAZ85 Did you use desktop software and e-file a state return?   The state e-file fee was $25.  And if you chose to pay that state e-file fee from your federal refund instead of paying it upfront before you e-filed by using a credit card or debit card, you also agreed to a $40 "refund processing" fee that went to the third party bank that received your refund, took out the TT fee and kept $40 for itself.   You did not have to do that.   You could have chosen to pay before you e-filed.
