If I file for extension, what is the amount I need to pay upfront. my taxes are not done so I do not know the amount. What are the fees and penalties that I need to be concerned about?

You estimate the taxes owed. Even if you can’t pay it all immediately, pay as much as you can. Penalties and interest are based on how much you owe and for how long. Late penalties can add 25% to your tax bill.
