Help me file federal return without filing state return

Yes - you can e-file your federal return and then subsequently mail in your state return in TurboTax.

State income tax returns can either be e-filed with your federal return, or e-filed or mailed after your federal return has already been accepted by the IRS, which normally takes a day or two.

When you get to the File section in the program, you can select e-file for your federal and print and mail for your state return. TurboTax will ensure that you have all the forms you need when you mail your state return. 

While you are in File section, you can choose Efile for Fed and choose to file by mail for State.

If you want to remove the state, you can go to State Taxes and delete it, only if you are sure.
