Hello. My wife and I are both international students on F1 visas. I am a resident alien and she is non-resident. Can we file jointly and claim standard deductions?

There is a rule that an international student after 5 years of presence becomes a resident alien. As I know, a resident alien is allowed to add a spouse even if she/he is a non-resident alien. Does it mean that we both have to file taxes with the regular 1040 form? What are other forms or statements do we need to submit? 

Lastly, can I use Turbotax software for this purpose?
