Getting an error when I try to file that UI/WF/SWF cannot exceed $176. That category is assigned to UI/HC/WD on my W2 and is more than $176. What should I do?

Yes, this error refers to box 14 of your W-2 form. The error refers to the per employee limit on New Jersey UI/WF/SWF.

If your W-2 says UI/HC/WD in box 14, that should be recorded as Other (not classified) rather than as New Jersey UI/WF/SWF.

To correct this in TurboTax:

  1. Open you return.
  2. Select Federal, then Wages & Income.
  3. To the right of Job (W-2), select Edit/ Add.
  4. Select Edit below the W-2 information.
  5. Select Continue to until you get to Now let's update the rest.
  6. Scroll down to box 14 and change the description dropdown to Other (not classified) on the right.
  7. Select Review on the left-side menu.
  8. Continue to file your tax return.
