If you just delete the form, the diagnostic might still be there as the input is what is forcing it. If you delete the input, it may affect the 1041. If it doesn't affect anything on the 1041, then you would be good to omit it.
When I deleted the Form 8855, there was still an issue--TurboTax had changed the Trust TIN in Item G to something nonsensical and also appeared to be asking for the 8855. I deleted the return and then started over (exiting TurboTax and restarting the computer to ensure everything had cleared). Here is a procedure that worked for entry, e-filing of the 1041, and paper filing of the 8855. In the step by step, indicate that the return will be an "estate" return (do not check other boxes for the 1041's Item A). When asked for the "executor", fill in the executor's name (or the filing trustee's name, if there is no executor). When you have completed the entire step by step, go into Forms mode and check the box for item G to indicate that the 645 election is being made. Enter the Trust TIN in the neighboring space. If there is a filing trustee instead of an executor, then go back into the worksheet, and change "Estate of . . . " to the Trust's name, exactly as it appears on the Trust's notice of EIN, and "Executor" to "Trustee" in a couple of places. (NOTE: These are not NUMERICAL overrides and so did not prevent e-filing--making numerical overrides can prevent e-filing.) DO NOT GENERATE A FORM 8855 UNTIL AFTER you have e-filed the 1041. Save, print, and review the Form 1041 and accompanying K-1. If OK, then continue with the step by step. TurboTax will eventually have you complete, print, sign, scan, and upload a Form 8453-FE, which is necessary for e-filing. Proceed to e-file the 1041. After the e-filing of the 1041 is accepted (happened within an hour for me), then you can either generate an 8855 using forms in TurboTax (another TurboTax user discussion shows how), OR obtain the form from www.irs.gov (search Form 8855 on the IRS website and download the pdf, which can be completed on your screen and then printed). Either way, complete and print out the Form 8855, sign it, and paper file it by sending to the appropriate IRS service center, identified at https://www.irs.gov/filing/where-to-file-your-taxes-for-form-8855. NOTE: I waited until after e-filing the 1041 to send in the Form 8855, just to ensure there were no issues with the 1041. Had the e-file been unsuccessful, I would have paper filed the two forms together, to reduce the chance that one is bounced because the other has been lost in the current backlog of IRS paper filings.
