This is because Nevada (NV) does not have a state income tax, you can leave this box blank if you are a resident of NV, or select your resident state.

Could you clarify what "Leaving the box 13 blank does not work with TT" means? What does TurboTax do? And why do you want to leave box 13 blank? Do you also have a W-2G from Nevada?

Yes, I do have one and brought it up with a lead last night.  The form W2G is blank on Box 13 but has the state ID.  TT has 2 boxes for that purpose:  Box 13 to enter the state name and another box for the state ID.  I tried leaving the Box 13 blank for state and entered the ID on the second box... but TT saw it as an error.  TT needs an entry on Box 13, and my dropdown does not have Nevada on the list.  We tried entering the cx home state last night, it did not work also....but it worked when I tried this morning!  Just keep trying !
