Form SSA 1099

Just received my software disc for TurboTax 2022 Deluxe.  Installed disc, activated, opened, transferred 2021 info, and started going through Income entries.  Tried to report income on SSA-1099 on Step-by-Step and the Net Benefits boxes (for me and spouse) already had $0 entries, and the Medicare deduction boxes had $0 for both as well.  Could not delete the $0, could not click to add supporting data, and could not overwrite my SSA income amounts.  I could highlight the field box but could not place my cursor into the box.  The blank boxes seemed to work OK.  Program bug?

Probably not ready yet.  There will be many updates to come.  Have you updated the program?  Go up to Online- Check for updates.

Answered my own question.  Went to forms, saw the $0 entries listed, was able to open up supporting data where I saw entries for items from Turbotax TWO years ago but with no dollar amounts entered.  Did not use supporting data last year for this form so do not understand why that transferred from 2 years ago if not used last year.  In any case, deleted the supporting data entry and $0 entries disappeared.  I was able to enter my SSA data back on Step-by-Step.

.........Just remember to come back in late Jan - early Feb to confirm, and put in the actual 2022 $$ for those forms from the real SSA-1099 and 1099-R forms.  You might be close, but not quite right, and you don't ever want to have to Amend later.

Never actually file before the end of February.  (And certain REITs have a habit of not issuing 1099-DIV forms until around the 1st week in March)
