With the 1099-DIV section of my mutual funds (Fidelity & Vanguard), in BOX 7 (Foreign Tax Paid), there are small amounts under Foreign Tax paid (under $150). And under Foreign Country, both Fidelity & Vanguard lists "VARIOUS". Before the final e-filing step, Turbo Tax is asking me to go back & fill Form 1116 for foreign income. My 1099-DIV does not show foreign income.
How can I bypass Form 1116, so that I can complete the e-filing process?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
You can file Form 1116 to claim the foreign tax credit if you are an individual, estate, or trust, and you paid or accrued certain foreign taxes to a foreign country or U.S.
possession.
To delete the Form 1116 from the program, follow here:
1. In the program, to your left,
2. Select Tax Tools, click on the drop down arrow
3. Select Tools
4. Under Other helpful links, choose Delete a form
5. Select Delete next to Form 1116 and Continue with My Return
Yes! A TurboTax expert called me & resolved the problem. In my particular case, the solution was to delete Form 1116.
I am very appreciative!
