Is there a way to opt to file form 1040 instead of form 1040-SR? I am eligible to file form 1040-SR, but I would prefer not to. It makes me feel old (LOL). I can still read the smaller print.
Other software I have used in the past has generated form 1040, even though I met the requirements for filing Form 1040-SR.

You are using desktop software so you can go to Forms mode and print it on the 1040 instead of 1040SR if you want to. If you are e-filing-----who cares? The IRS only sees the data, not whether you used 1040 or 1040SR. The forms are identical -- only the print is bigger on the 1040SR. The lines and calculations are exactly the same; there is no effect on your tax due or refund.
Since you are using the CD/Download TurboTax software, you can make it print Form 1040 instead. Go to forms mode and open the Federal Information Worksheet. In Part II of the worksheet, below your address, there is a line that says "Print Form 1040-SR instead of Form 1040." Click the No box on that line.

besides your eligibility for Form 1040-SR, your forum user ID betrays your age.
Thank you.
