I continue to get an error message relating to an entry from my Vanguard statement about an entry of 8.43 under the heading of Dividends and Distributions for "Foreign tax paid", The tax was on a Mutual fund Vanguard Star Investors. I imported the Vanguard info in preparing my return. The program brings me to form 1116 which seeks a ot of information. This 8.43 is the only foreign asset and it is part of a mutual fund at that.
Can I delete this one item from the imported data so I can file?.

My foreign tax paid (via my mutual funds with an investment banker) is very minimal. So far, because of the hassle of that form at the last minute showing up as an "error" that needs to be fixed before I can file my taxes, I choose the box on the form that says I don't want the deduction for my taxes. That takes care of it. If it were a significant amount of money, I might deal with it.
If you don't want to claim the credit for foreign tax paid, you can remove the $8 from your 1099-DIV form.
