Foreign Tax credit issues

I have a range of brokerage accounts (wife and I each have separate accounts at firms, plus firms merging and generating different flavors of 1099 etc.)  that lead to having a number of stocks with foreign dividends that have tax paid that I need to get a credit back on.  Countries include Canada, South Africa, Brazil, Luxemburg, RIC (for etf emerging markets).  When trying to use Turbo tax, it seems to be cumbersome to tag by country to the right 1099.  Is the best way to adjust/fix any changes to go to the forms view and enter manually on form 1116 if I can't tag things perfectly in the turbo interface?  If my foreign dividend income is low enough (about 2500) spread across 8 different 1099s, could I just pick various for country and get one total or do I really need to go country by country to do a break down?

'Various' is a perfect answer.  Because it is correct.  For 'date paid' enter '1099 TAX'.
