That's not standard practice. Any specific reason you'd want two telephone numbers on file?
You can use an email or phone but not 2 phones ... this is standard practice for 2 step authentication methods.
Wells Fargo, Health Equity and other financial accounts let me put my cell and my wife's so that either of us can access the accounts. Super helpful.
So that me or my wife can access the account without having to forward the text.
@robby-harker Thanks for your reply. I wouldn't expect TurboTax to change their method of two-step verification. Tax return accounts probably aren't accessed as often as those for a financial institutions. I would actually think that TT accounts are primarily accessed during filing season and very rarely at other times of year.

Standard Two Step Authentication does usually require three steps. Logging in, email, and then a phone call or text.
Your two step authentication is not very good... not very user friendly.
Makes me want to pull my hair out.
Please update my phone number for Two-Step Authentication
Old number (no longer used) [phone number removed]
New number [phone number removed]
