My son is not disabled, though he is a special needs services who receives Medicaid. Does this matter. When asked if he was disabled I checked no. Was this correct?

@TurboTaxKenH I think that if the child is 13 or older, clicking "disabled" will allow the continued use of the child and dependent care credit which otherwise ends at 13.

For a child under 13, checking disabled or not makes no difference on your tax return.

For IRS purposes, disabled means unable to perform gainful work due to a condition that is permanent, or will last at least a year, or will lead to death.
