If your return has already been accepted, it is too late. Your parents will need to mail their return if they are claiming you. Once you get your refund, you can file an amendment to ''unclaim'' yourself. If you can e-file that amendment instead of having to mail it, that might update the IRS system faster and allow your parents to e-file (I'm guessing you don't want to tell them they have to file by mail;). And I am not even sure that that will work, but it is worth the attempt. They can file an extension to file if they would prefer to try that option. But you should not amend your tax return until the IRS has processed your original ''incorrect'' return and issued you a refund.
If your return is not filed yet or it gets rejected, you can sign in and change your answer to question #3 in the My Info - personal information interview - Can someone else claim me?
