"Fix My Return" option does not show up for rejected amendment

I submitted an amendment after my state return was accepted, but soon I received an email from TurboTax saying "F1-0965 - The Amended Form was received where no original Form has been filed." I logged in to TurboTax (webpage) but I could not see any "Fix My Return" option to guide me through the process. There is nothing showing up on the left sidebar or in the center of the page. Does anyone know where I can find this option?

Error F1-0965 occurs when the state thinks you are trying to amend a return that hasn't been filed. 

You must double-check that your original state return was Accepted, not just "Submitted." If it was rejected previously and never successfully e-filed, you cannot file an amendment; you must fix the original and e-file that first.  If you e-filed the original very recently, the state may still be processing it. Wait a few days for the original to clear the state's system before resubmitting the amendment.
 

If the e-file system continues to reject the amendment with this code, your best option is to print and mail the amended state return. This allows a human reviewer at the state tax agency to manually link it to your original record.

Hi MaryK4, thank you for your response. If I mail my amended state return, do I need to attach other relevant forms, such as new 1099 forms that led to this amendment?

Yes, include any 1099's related to the changes in your Amended Return with Form 1040X.  Since Amendments take so long to be processed (whether efiled or mailed), mailing it won't delay anything for you.
