Filing this year first time married but seperate. As result, withholdings last year weren't enough due to lower standard deduction. Have adjusted withholdings for next year and set up payment plan.
Sold house before the year started and before we seperated last year - so can't claim anything there. No significant medical expenses last year. No head of household status or kids living at home. Interest on 401s, IRAs, savings accounts and mutual funds account not enough to itemize. Only additional deduction is being 65 and older. Is there anything else I can consider to minimize taxes owed?
Also, if I do an extension, turbo tax says I need to pay outstanding taxes by 4/15. But wouldn't the payment plan override the 4/15 date?

1. To minimize taxes owed: You can review the IRS website on deductions and credits . If any apply, go back through the Deductions and Credits section of TurboTax.
2. Payment for 2023 taxes is due by April 15, 2024 and is not related to your tax payments for the tax year 2024 which now has estimated payments planned.
