Finding Cost Basis

Filing with Turbo tax.  We sold some mutual funds this year - Vanguard Balanced Index and VG Windsor II

There was no cost basis reported from the Brokerage....they are very old funds purchased many years ago with more than one purchase over years.  How can I find or calculate the basis

Finding Cost Basis

see if the brokerage can provide prior year reports.

many brokers have old information it just that the IRS says they don't have to report it on 1099

if not your going to have to use your best estimate and hope the iRS does not inquire.

Finding Cost Basis

If you know what years the funds might have been purchased, you can get a range of purchase prices for that year from this Vanguard site: https://personal.vanguard.com/us/funds/tools/pricehistorysearch?radio=2&results=get&FundType=Vanguar...
